We all need to enter or “re-enter” into the Kingdom of God because man used to be in this kingdom before.

When Adam was in the Garden of Eden, he used to live in it, but when he fell to sin, he was ejected from the garden and the Holy Spirit–being the Kingdom of God here on earth–was recalled to heaven.
After the fall of man, Satan introduced his government in this planet earth and as a result, all men became part of his government and were subjected into it. But when Jesus Christ came, he reintroduced this kingdom. In fact, if you are going to read the bible, Jesus always gives an invitation to man to enter into this kingdom.
So, how do we enter into this Kingdom?
According to the Bible, in order to enter into this kingdom, you need to be “born again.”
In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”“How can a man be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born!” Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.
John 3:3-5
Born again is not a religious word but a government word. What is born again therefore? When God created man, he took dust from the ground and formed it as the man’s body. After forming the body, he breathed in him his spirit (the breath of life). And that gave life to man. Man therefore, became a living being. God also put in man, his soul, meaning his senses, feelings and emotions. However, when man fell to sin, the spirit of man died. And when the spirit of man died, man became a malfunctioning being. He started living in total ignorance…having no understanding about the kingdom of God.
That is why Jesus said, you must be “born again”. Born again means “re-born of the spirit”. The kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom and for man to grasp, understand and operate the kingdom, he has to have his spirit alive again. It is the spirit, that is within man, that understands and communicates with the spiritual kingdom of God. Hence, without the rebirth of the spirit, you cannot see, grasp and understand about the kingdom.
That is why Jesus said, you must be “born again”. Born again means “rebirth of the spirit”. The kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom and for man to grasp, understand and operate the kingdom, he has to have his spirit alive again.
Born again means “rebirth of the spirit”
It is the spirit, that is within man, that understands and communicates with the spiritual kingdom of God. Hence, without the rebirth of the spirit, you cannot see, grasp and understand about the kingdom.
So, for you to enter into the kingdom, you have to be “born again”. But there is another requirement for you to be born again.
During the time of Adam, the spirit of man died because of sin. What sin? The sin of rebellion. Adam “rebelled” against the government of God when he ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
And as a consequence, all men inherited that sin.
In any government, any case of rebellion is considered a serious and grave offence. And for a person to be restored when rebellion was committed, the government must offer “amnesty”. The term, “amnesty” pertains to the general pardon granted by a government for political offences, which includes rebellion.
God offered amnesty for us to be restored in His government
In the context of the rebellion case of man, God offered amnesty. He offered amnesty to man for him to be restored to his government. Amnesty also means to overlook the past offence committed.
We are all beneficiaries of the amnesty offered by God’s government. And when God overlooks our past offences (sins), the rebirth of the spirit (of man) will take place.
When you experience this “rebirth of the spirit”, you begin to understand about the kingdom of God. But for you to acquire amnesty, you must admit your guilt (sins) and that is called “repentance”. We need to admit our guilt so that we can avail of the amnesty being offered by God’s government. That is what Jesus Christ came for: to offer amnesty to man. As it is written…
“…I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”.
John 14:6
God gave his own Son, Jesus Christ, the mandate to offer amnesty to man. It is only through Jesus Christ that we can avail of this amnesty. No one can offer this one except him and him alone. So, if you want to re-enter into this kingdom… you have to:
- Repent of your sins.
- Believe in the One (Jesus Christ) who was sent to offer amnesty.
- Experience “rebirth of the spirit” (this is a ‘package deal’; once you accept your guilt and believe in Jesus Christ, then ‘born again’ or rebirth of the spirit will take place)
When you are already in the kingdom of God, that’s the time you begin to explore what is in the kingdom.
